Design Thinking

The CurisApp Uses Design Thinking to Unlock Value in the Locums Recruitment Process

We believe user experience is king. All the products we develop have consumer insights in its heart, and the CurisApp is no exception.

For the creation of our CurisApp platform, we put together a team of designers, market researchers, product managers, developers, and future end users. They followed the design thinking methodology to co-create the MVP (Minimal Viable Product). We went through 5 main steps:

Empathise

We started with getting to know our end users, the current process, their pain points, their aspirations and goals. We created user personas to help us build the empathy our design team needed to really get into the shoes of our customers.

Define

The insights from the end users informed our interpretation of the customer journey, and we gathered ideas about how best to reshape it. We focused on resolving the users major pain points in the existing process, and thus unlocking value for everyone. We managed to simplify the flow by removing unnecessary parties and steps to reduce cost, and to streamline communication and save time.

Ideate

In addition to the initial design thinking workshops, our team of experts gathered and analysed market research data which helped us understand where the competition stands. These market insights were important for us to differentiate our product, and ensure that we can offer the best value for our customers. We looked for inspiration in other industries too. Market leaders like Airbnb and Uber have a lot to offer when it comes down to user-centric design.

As a result, we put together a long list of key features which we would like to build for our clients. Then we prioritised it with some help from our end users to make sure we remain laser focused on value.

Prototype and MVP

We jumped in the deep with a high-fidelity interactive prototype and after a few iterations the MVP design was ready. Thanks to our wonderful designers, the application interface doesn’t just look good, it is functional… at least the end users say so. Our initial feedback sessions gave us an average score of 8/10. In the meantime, our skillful development team set up the infrastructure and got down to business.

Testing

Only in 4 months we had our initial website, mobile and web application up and running, but the fun does not stop here. Ever since, we keep adding new ideas to our product roadmap with ongoing feedback from our target audience. In addition to our rigorous functional testing, we reach out on a regular basis to the end-users to gather some feedback. We have end user interviews where we showcase the latest features, and validate the embedded business logic. We often get new end users to participate in our interviews or focus groups to make sure we capture new ideas and perspectives.
