FAQ

REGISTRATION

How much does it cost to use CuRisApp?

Nothing. It’s completely free to use for locums.

Can I see the jobs without a registration?

No. We only allow registered users to browse the marketplace. However, once you register, you’ll be able to see and apply for jobs directly.

What documentation do I need to register?

The sign up process itself doesn’t require any documentation. However, you will not be able to apply for jobs until you have uploaded your CV. Before being approved for shifts, you’d need to be vetted by us and that’s why we’ll require some documents from you – at the very least, we need a copy of your passport, valid indemnity insurance and a DBS check.

The app crashes/gives me a blank screen – what do I do?

Sometimes, if there is a time period between your registration on the app and confirmation of the account from the email you’ve received, the app gives a blank screen – simply sign out of the app and sign back in.

If the app crashes because you have recently updated the app from your App/Google Store, then simply kill the app and restart it.

Can I register as a locum on the web version of the app?

With locums being always on the move, we’ve devoted our efforts to making the mobile application your one-stop-shop for all matters related to locuming. That is why right now, locums need to register via the mobile application, while healthcare organisations use the web app as admins. A web version for locums is currently being developed and will be available soon.

JOB SEARCH AND NOTIFICATIONS

How can I search for shifts in my area?

When you register, you will be prompted to fill in your postcode. After registration, you can set your preferred travel radius in the Settings. This travel radius is calculated using your post code, and not your current location. If you want to go further afield, then simply increase your travel radius to see more options.

Can I search for shifts offered on a specific day or by a specific healthcare organisation?

In the upper left corner of the Jobs tab you will find the Filters option. There you can filter by time frame, preferred working hours, minimum rate per hour or by organisation. CuRisApp gives you the option to look for the shifts you really want, where and when you want them.

How can I find out about new jobs?

CurisApp offers you free daily, weekly or monthly notifications which come directly to your email. They contain new shifts that match your search preferences.

Can I control how many notifications I receive?

You can adjust the frequency of the notifications from the mobile app settings. You can also completely disable them.

JOB APPLICATIONS

What do I need to apply for a job?

You will have to upload a CV, a copy of your passport (plus evidence that you have the right to work in the UK if you don’t hold a UK passport), valid indemnity insurance and a DBS check. It would be beneficial for your future applications, if you upload additional documentation available, such as training certificates, qualifications, references, etc.

Where do I upload all necessary documents?

In the app, go to My Profile and then press the Compliance tab on the upper right corner. There, you’d be prompted to add the expiry date of your registration number. You will also see the document upload fields, divided into Mandatory and Other Certification. Under the Experience tab on the upper left corner of My Profile you will be able to upload your CV.

Is there a risk of applying for shifts happening at the same time?

The system will highlight overlapping shifts for you and it will prevent you from double-booking yourself.

What if I found a great shift but the rate is too low?

With CuRisApp, you are ALWAYS able to negotiate the pay rate. This functionality is built in the system and can be used for any shift you apply for. The organisation will then either accept your rate or return an alternative proposal.

How quickly will I get a response to my application?

This will depend on the coordinator who has created the job. Sometimes shifts will be accepted relatively quickly, other times it might be a last-minute approval, especially if it concerns emergency shifts. That’s why it’s important to have all your documents in place so that your application can be processed faster.

I applied for a shift but got rejected without rate negotiations – why is that?

The most common reason is that the shift was filled elsewhere and is no longer available. Don’t be discouraged by that, just keep applying.

What if the organisation cancels a shift we’ve already agreed to?

This will only happen very rarely and we strive to avoid such situations at all costs. Should this happen, we and the organisation offering the shift will be in touch with you asap to clarify the situation.

Can I cancel my application?

We strongly recommend cancelling only applications which are not yet accepted. Cancelling accepted shifts will require you to justify why you need to request a cancellation.

INVOICING

How can I invoice the client for my time?

You will be able to create an invoice automatically as soon as your shift is completed. The store will receive your bank details and the details of the shift, so they can make the payment directly to you. Please keep in mind that many healthcare organisations have their own accounting systems and there might be additional requirements on their side. Make sure you are informed about that in order to be compliant and receive your payment.

How will I be paid?

As soon as you have created the invoice, the coordinator/admin will receive the invoice with all the required details to make a payment. The timescale will depend on them. However, we strongly advise all our clients to make the payment within the first 2-3 weeks of the issue date.

What should I do in order to start posting my open shifts?

After confirmation of your email and once you log into the webapp, you will be prompted to provide further details about your organisation and your role in it (admin, manager, coordinator, etc.). Once that’s done, you will be able to see the dashboard in the home screen.

The dashboard will show you three high level metrics for your organisation: Total Shifts, Number of Locums, and Total Hours. They reflect the information in the system since the admin created the organisation’s account. The admin can also extract the raw data in Excel. The table also offers the options to filter or sort the records in the dashboard.

POSTING JOBS

What is the difference between Jobs and Shifts?

You always start by creating a Job with all the necessary information – location, department, pay rate, additional benefits, experience needed and special requirements. Once the Job is created, you then start creating the specific Shifts you need. One Shift is one working day on the calendar. You can also change the pay rate in each shift when creating it or after, if you want to change it.

How can I upload jobs to my organisation’s profile?

Go to the Jobs section on the left, then to the “Job Requests” sub section, and click on the “Create New Job” button. The system will prompt you to create a department first and please fill in the appropriate details. The departments can be used to define different locations and/or branches of the organisation. You can now enter the job details.

Once the job has been saved, you will now be able to add Shifts by clicking on the “Add Shift” button and then selecting the dates you want to create new shifts for. Select the timeframe required, add any special requirements and, finally, click “Add”. The job along with the shift details will be created and will be displayed in the “Job Requests” screen.

MANAGING JOB APPLICATIONS

How can I review and accept locum applications?

Once you have received applications for the job posted on the platform, you will start noticing the applications and the relevant details on the admin portal. The applications received will be displayed under the Job Request sub-section and as an admin, you can browse through each of the applications. After reviewing the candidate details, you can accept or reject the application. The candidate will be notified if their application has been accepted or rejected.

Can the locums negotiate the rate offered in my job post?

Negotiating the rate of shifts is always an option for locums when applying in CuRisApp. The locum may start a negotiation for the rate as part of their application. If that is the case, then the system will inform you that there is a new rate proposal and it will prompt you to “Accept Rate” or “Reject Rate”.

If you reject the rate, the system will ask you to provide a counteroffer to the locum’s rate proposal and a rejection reason to help them understand why their proposal is not acceptable. This feedback and the new offer will be shared with the locum for review. If the locum has accepted the rate, then the system will show you that a new rate has been agreed. Then you have to go ahead and accept/reject the shifts associated with their application.

How do I know if a locum is legitimate?

The CuRisApp Team is responsible for vetting all our locum users. Without several mandatory documents, such as a passport, proof of valid indemnity insurance and a DBS check, locums will not be accepted for shifts. We check if everything is in order so that you can that trust locum applicants are legitimate.

In addition, all the documents submitted by the locum will be displayed on the right side of the application screen. That will also include an up-to-date CV. The locum will also provide details of the applications and tools that they have experience and knowledge of.

INVOICING

How does the invoicing feature work on CuRisApp?

Once the locum has completed their shift, they will be able to send you an invoice in the system. The admin can review all the items on the invoice, including shifts completed and any other additional items which the locum may have added, e.g. Parking, Meals, etc. All of these additional items are usually agreed ahead or during the shift with the healthcare organisation representative. If the admin sees fit, they can Reject the invoice. If this is necessary, the admin and the locum will have to deal with the issue offline.

If the invoice is correct, and the admin has approved it, they should mark it as paid by clicking “Mark as Paid” once the amount has been paid to the locum’s bank details which are also available on the invoice.
